Concerned?

Many people, including some of my clients, have offered me a feeling. They feel, they will somehow become unstable if they are not concerned about something. If they are not on the lookout for danger, they will not be prepared for it when it eventually comes. They say, “If I am concerned, I get to hold on to something.” They say, if they are concerned, they get a sense of control over “something.”

This is obviously an illusion but, the sense of control is real. Letting go of the sense of control is hard. The sense of power over uncertainty that is felt when someone is concerned is somewhat psychologically comforting. Letting go of that control can feel destabilizing. When you are ready, take a step back and ask yourself, is there something I actually should be concerned about? Is there a real or metaphorical tiger in the room? Do I need to be concerned? If not, maybe take a step, maybe two, towards trust, towards faith.

You are able to handle what is happening and what is coming. Getting comfortable with being uncomfortable is an important step towards true freedom. This freedom leads to a truly wondrous life. It’s available to you.

Help is available if you want it. Reach out and take a step towards trusting yourself.
